How do I build a wardrobe?

Building a wardrobe - Where to begin and where to invest??

Building a wardrobe can be an overwhelming experience. Where do you need to invest your dollars and where can you “skimp?”

Every woman needs to have a good quality suit. This will be the “core” of her collection. Plan to spend in the realm of $300-500, depending on the designer chosen and fabric of suit.

We will then “build” onto this “core piece.” A simple pant in a neutral color will add versatility to the suit jacket, along with adding several button-down shirts, “separate’s”, simple sweaters and sweater sets, will make your wardrobe go a long way! Think neutral which never goes out of season and white is a must have!

Finally, investing in a quality black leather purse and shoes, can last a lifetime, with proper leather care. Studies show that people notice your shoes and purse, after your smile!

Trendy season pieces can be purchased at an inexpensive price, for these items are not warranted for long term wearing.

Always ask your self “How many times will I wear the item I am about to purchase and what do I have in my closet which will compliment this piece?” If the answer is “I will wear it very little and have nothing to wear with it” – pass it up!

Remember, classics never go out of style! Happy Shopping!

Bridal Makeup Tips

Things to consider:
Is there a “theme” to your wedding, a particular “style” you want to create?
Is it a “day or “night” wedding, informal or formal, indoor or outside?

The above questions are important in creating the very best look for your very special day!
Foundation, concealer and loose powder will be necessary in order to “aid” you having the best even skin tone for the cameras. Your makeup may be more “layered” than you are usually use to wearing on a daily basis. Application and blending is KEY to your success. Invest in a good quality makeup brush set of natural hair to achieve the most professional results.

If you are applying the makeup yourself, work with an independent consultant who can EDUCATE you and choose the best color for you! PRACTICE the application to ensure a perfect application!

Waterproof mascara is a requirement! One never knows if tears will flow! Avoid a makeup disaster!

If you are choosing to have your makeup to be applied by someone else, seek the services of a professional. Look for a licensed makeup artist who has a portfolio for your review!

What is the shelf life of my cosmetics?

Clean out your cosmetic drawer to fit the season.

NOW is the time to refresh and renew your cosmetic drawer! Do you have a favorite lipstick you are scraping out the color from the bottom of the case? Time to let it go and get a replacement!

Here are a few guidelines to assist you in determining what can stay and what needs to go!:

  • Shelf life for eye products has more of a limitation than other skincare and cosmetic products due to the risk of obtaining an eye infection.
  • Replace your mascara every 3 months. The eye can be contaminated by the opening of the mascara case and the removal of the wand. If the mascara becomes dry, time to throw it out!
  • Look for expiration dates on your products and do not “stretch” them passed their expiration date. Products have preservatives. There is a time line as to when these preservatives will be most effective. If used after the expiration date, you may create a risk of getting a rash or irritation.
  • Do not improperly store your skincare and cosmetics. Store them in a cool, dry place. Avoid sunlight and high temperatures which can alter the chemical makeup of the formulas. If a product has an odor and discoloration, discard immediately!

Makeup Brush maintenance:

Clean your brushes every week with your skincare cleanser or baby shampoo.
Holding the brush in your hand, gently roll it as to remove the excess water from the bristles. Stand the brushes upright in a glass or toothbrush holder, to allow the hair to dry. A common mistake is to clean the brushes and then lay them down on a towel. Unfortunately, this is an excellent medium for bacteria growth.
